Meaghan Hyckie
(b. 1983, Toronto, Ontario, Canada)

Influenced by an aesthetic fusion of 8-bit videogames, textiles and op-art, Hyckie’s work channels feelings of sentimentality and anxiety through familiar imagery that deteriorates into shapes, colours and patterns. In her drawings, prints and public artwork, Hyckie animates the spaces between and within, while drawing historical traces and energetic connections between the houses people live in, the land they occupy, and the air they breathe.

Hyckie received a BFA from OCAD University (Toronto). Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across North America including the Art Gallery of Ontario; Art Windsor-Essex; Macaulay & Co. Fine Art (Vancouver); Museum London; Galerie Nicolas Robert (Montreal); Olga Korper Gallery (Toronto); Open Studio (Toronto); and Smokestack Gallery (Hamilton). Her work is in the collections of the Art Gallery of Ontario, Museum London, the Bank of Montreal and Royal Bank of Canada, among others. Hyckie’s first monumental public artwork Elevations was installed in 2022 at Great Canadian Casino Resort, Toronto. Hyckie lives and works in Toronto.
